Liam Lowell stood by the window.
He looked down at the street below.
The handcuffs gleamed coldly under the lights.
His face showed no expression.
He was eerily calm.
A stark contrast to his frenzied state during the live stream.
He slowly turned around.
He obediently sat in the interrogation chair.
Suppressed rage churned in the depths of his eyes.
He suddenly looked up and glared at Grace Lorenz. "You violated procedure!"
Grace remained unperturbed. "We owe Miss Ross and Mr. Vance a favor."
"This small help is nothing."
"At most, it's a disciplinary note."
"I can handle it."
Liam slammed his fists on the table. "You can't do this to me! It's too cruel!"
"Cruel?" Evelyn Ross stepped forward, closing in on him. "Crueler than you killing your own father?"
"Liam Lowell, stop acting."
"You've seen Isabella's true colors."
"There's no need to keep her secrets anymore."
Liam clutched his head. "I don't believe it! She wouldn't harm me! It doesn't benefit her!"
"You must be tricking me!"
Evelyn straightened up and looked at Alexander Vance. "Mr. Vance, Isabella has been begging Julian to take her back these past few days, right?"
"Unfortunately, Julian refused to see her?"
Alexander played along. "The Vance family doesn't want a woman who steals credit."
Evelyn gave a light laugh. "And now?"
"Her report has been helpful."
"The police station will award her a Citizen's Award for Bravery."
She winked at Alexander.
Her peach-blossom eyes shimmered with a sly light.
Alexander's Adam's apple bobbed. His gaze deepened.
He looked away and said in a low voice, "The Vance family needs positive publicity."
"Didn't you see Julian's attitude soften just now?"
Evelyn raised an eyebrow in thanks.
She then turned to Liam. "Hear that? She did all this to marry into the Vance family."
Liam's eyes nearly burst with fury. "Shut up!"
Evelyn slowly moved closer. "Can you stand her climbing to success over your body?"
"You'll spend the rest of your life in prison while she becomes a young mistress of the Vance family…"
"I said shut up!"
Liam suddenly stood up.
His handcuffed hands swung toward Evelyn!
"Watch out!"
Grace and Alexander exclaimed simultaneously.
Evelyn raised her hand and caught his wrist, forcefully pressing it onto the table!
A loud bang echoed.
The handcuffs hit the table.
Liam struggled violently but couldn't break free.
He grinned. "Evelyn Ross, you think this will make me talk? Dream on!"
Evelyn was slightly taken aback.
Grace quickly secured the handcuffs to the interrogation chair.
Evelyn released her grip, frowning. "You asked me to come. Said you had something to say."
"Not anymore."
Liam looked at both of them. "I plead guilty."
"But I'm the victim's son. I have the right to write a Letter of Forgiveness, right?"
"That bastard drove me to despair. I shouldn't get the death penalty!"
Evelyn's brow furrowed deeply.
Liam's state was very strange.
She gave Grace a meaningful look. They both walked out of the interrogation room.
Evelyn asked quietly, "Will you be disciplined?"
"No." Grace's expression was serious. "You didn't press charges and provided evidence."
"Captain Durant feels guilty. This small favor is nothing."
"Besides, we didn't leak the informant's privacy. Isabella isn't the evidence provider."
Evelyn breathed a sigh of relief.
She frowned. "Liam's attitude is strange."
Grace nodded. "The officers who arrested him said he was frantically demanding to see you when they caught him."
"Then he suddenly calmed down. Seemed resigned."
Evelyn concentrated, thinking. Suddenly, she said, "Can I see his phone?"
"Okay."
After Liam's arrest, all his personal items were confiscated.
A colleague handed over the phone, explaining, "He calmed down after looking at his phone."
"He tried to delete a message. We stopped him."
Evelyn turned on the phone. Ignoring the exploding WhatsApp messages, she went straight to the last opened chat.
It was a message from Isabella.
A pregnancy test report.
Evelyn's pupils constricted sharply.
She turned and rushed back into the interrogation room, standing before Liam. "You won't talk because Isabella is pregnant? It's your child?"
The date on the report was clear.
Liam laughed. "Don't you understand? Isabella's child is, of course, Mr. Vance's."
"She's about to marry into the Vance family. Hahaha…"
Though he hated Isabella to the core, the child was his.
He had lived his entire life under his father's shadow, vowing not to let his child repeat the same fate.
Now his child would become the Vance family heir, living a life of luxury. What did Isabella's betrayal matter?
Evelyn looked at his expression and knew she wouldn't get anything more.
But she suddenly stepped closer, radiating an intimidating aura. "Liam Lowell, let me tell you a secret."
"What?"
"Your phone has been monitored for a long time."
"I heard every word between you and Isabella clearly."
Liam froze completely.
Evelyn curved her lips. "You think I can't guess if you don't talk?"
"You said Isabella stole my life. So this secret is related to my origins!"
Liam's pupils contracted violently!
Evelyn knew she had guessed correctly.
Both she and Isabella were William Ashcroft's daughters. The question of origins could only be…
