Justin Evans turned his head to answer the phone.
Mrs. Evans sounded displeased. "The bodyguards are in position. The entire floor is locked down. Where are you?"
Justin Evans glanced toward the hospital room. "I'm with Jason."
Mrs. Evans immediately became dissatisfied. "I only asked you to say hello. Why are you still lingering there? Get out now!"
Justin Evans scratched his head. "Waiting for my sister's reply. There's a small situation here."
Mrs. Evans hung up directly.
Justin Evans stared blankly at his phone.
The sound of high heels approached from a distance.
Mrs. Evans forcefully entered the hospital room.
Her gaze swept across the room. "What trouble?"
Jason immediately pointed at Jane. "I asked her to peel an apple. She deliberately cut her hand and bled, pretending to be pitiful! Is this the level of a doctor?"
Mrs. Evans frowned and looked at Jane.
Jane shook her head desperately. Her lips trembled, but no sound came out.
Evelyn Ross stepped forward to shield Jane. "Mrs. Evans, you know the truth in your heart."
Mrs. Evans sneered. "I only heard Jason's account. Do you have any evidence?"
Evelyn was about to speak.
Mrs. Evans cut her off directly. "Were you present at the time, Miss Ross?"
She looked at Justin Evans. "You tell me."
Justin Evans grinned and held his mother's arm. "Miss Ross was pestering me in the hallway about a collaboration. She only came in after hearing the scream. We didn't see anything."
He glanced sideways at Jane. "Jason makes a good point. This mute can't even defend herself."
Tears instantly welled up in Jane's eyes.
Her difficult attempt to speak had just become a joke.
Evelyn sharply rebuked, "Shut up!"
Mrs. Evans immediately defended him. "Miss Ross, this is the Evans family's territory. It's not your place to order people around!"
Evelyn clenched her fists in anger.
The Evans family was utterly unreasonable.
Mrs. Evans pointed toward the door. "Please leave."
Evelyn took a deep breath.
The New York medical system was controlled by the Evans family.
Investigating Marcus Valentine's condition required their cooperation.
The collaboration with the five major families was only missing the Evans family.
But the current situation was clearly impossible to negotiate.
This was a complete dead end.
Evelyn took Jane's hand. "Let's go."
Jason suddenly called out to them. "Wait!"
He smiled maliciously. "Aunt, this kind of doctor should have her internship qualification revoked. To avoid harming patients."
Jane trembled all over.
Evelyn responded coldly, "Revoke it then. Does New York only listen to the Evans family?"
Jason scoffed. "All the private hospitals are ours. Where else can she go? The Nora Research Institute? Don't forget her hand is already ruined!"
Mrs. Evans' gaze finally fell on Jane.
Following the blood-stained hand upward, she saw Jane's face clearly.
She suddenly froze.
