Marcus Valentine was stunned by these words.
He never expected Mina to make such a demand.
Even now, she still insisted on a paternity test... Was she that desperate to divorce him?
A cold smirk tugged at his lips.
Mina nearly screamed, "Marcus Valentine! I want you to see the results with your own eyes! I want you to see whose child you killed with your own hands!"
"Minnie... Stop this. I know you're just trying to force me into a divorce. I won't agree to it."
Marcus reached out and gently stroked her hair.
His demeanor completely enraged her. Tears streamed down her face. "Marcus Valentine, you bastard! You complete bastard!"
She collapsed into the seat, utterly consumed by despair.
Her hands pressed tightly against her abdomen. The excruciating pain was nearly suffocating.
Just then, violent knocking sounded against the car window.
Marcus turned and saw Evelyn Ross desperately trying to open the door. Frustrated, she began pounding on the reinforced glass.
The glass was too strong to break.
Marcus had no intention of staying. He quickly moved into the driver's seat.
As he was about to drive away, a black sedan suddenly blocked his path.
Marcus frowned. He saw Alexander Vance leaning out of the sedan's window.
Marcus let out a soft sigh.
He looked back again. Evelyn was standing outside his car, signaling for him to unlock the door.
Marcus was silent for a moment. Finally, he pressed the unlock button.
The door clicked open. Evelyn immediately pulled open the rear door, her eyes filled with焦急 as she looked at Mina. "Mina, are you okay?"
Mina's face was streaked with tears. Her hands were still clamped over her abdomen. She sobbed, "The baby... The baby is gone... Grace, my baby is gone!"
Evelyn quickly supported her. "Don't be afraid. We're going to the hospital right now. Come with me!"
Mina stumbled out of the car. Leaning on Evelyn, she hurried toward the hospital.
The reporters swarmed forward, surrounding Marcus. "Mr. Valentine, what just happened? Were you and Miss Sherwood arguing in the car?"
Marcus lowered his gaze. He said calmly, "My wife wasn't feeling well. The baby... couldn't be saved."
The reporters were instantly in an uproar.
The baby was gone?
Just now?
This sounded too much like a cover-up!
They were like sharks scenting blood, immediately thrusting their microphones forward. "Mr. Valentine, what exactly happened with this baby?"
"Was it an intentional miscarriage?"
"The child wasn't actually yours, was it?"
Out of the corner of his eye, Marcus saw Evelyn helping Mina through the hospital doors. His expression turned cold. He responded with force.
"Making baseless accusations is illegal! If you continue to slander my wife's reputation, the legal department of the Valentine Group will send each of you a lawyer's letter!"
The reporters immediately fell silent.
Marcus scanned the crowd. He said, word by word, "My wife and I love each other deeply. I am also grieving for this child.
