Chapter 414

Ethan Valentine kept chattering nonstop.

"Little sister, those three moves you used to dodge me last time were impressive... Of course, I was going easy on you! I'll teach you properly another day and test your real skills..."

"Oh, my fiancée Kiki Cortez asked to meet today. Perfect chance to introduce you. We'll all be family soon!"

"Just to be clear, I'm not marrying into her family! The Valentines aren't so poor that our sons need to be taken in... It's just the Cortez family lacks capable fighters in this generation, alas!"

"Not that they have no people. Kiki has plenty of siblings and cousins. But too few are willing to endure the hardship of martial arts training... Young people these days lack patience!"

"Like me, sent here by Third Uncle at age three, training hard every day... First Senior Sister is even more amazing. She only started at fifteen, two hours a day, sometimes less... She's truly remarkable!"

Evelyn Ross listened quietly.

This third brother was practically a chatterbox machine.

His mouth hadn't stopped since they met.

They entered the Cortez compound, heading towards the rear courtyards.

A slender girl suddenly rushed over from the outer disciples' rest area.

The girl grabbed Evelyn's arm.

Evelyn froze.

The girl urgently made hand gestures.

Realizing something, she quickly pulled out a notepad and wrote.

Her handwriting was neat and elegant.

"Hello, I'm Jane Evans, Justin's sister. My brother was beaten by Jason. He's bedridden now. He asked me to warn you to be careful of Jason's revenge."

Evelyn looked at the girl.

Her features were delicate, like a fragile little white flower.

She couldn't speak?

Evelyn pressed her lips together, taking the pen and paper to write.

The girl snatched back the notepad, shaking her head and pointing to her own ears.

Indicating she could hear.

Evelyn spoke. "Did your brother go to the hospital? Is he badly hurt?"

The girl wrote quickly. "Yes. His leg is broken. He needs bed rest for a month."

Evelyn asked another question. "Do you have enough for the medical bills?"

The girl nodded vigorously, waving to leave.

Evelyn stopped her. "Give me your address. I want to visit Justin."

Justin got beaten because he stood up for Evelyn.

She felt responsible.

The girl wrote down the address, tore off the paper, and handed it over.

She gave Evelyn a sweet smile, revealing two dimples.

Then she turned and ran off.

Evelyn tucked away the address, looking at Ethan Valentine.

She was about to speak when a sharp cry rang out.

"Grace Nan!"

A brisk girl strode over quickly.

"Come on, let's fight!"

Evelyn was stunned.

Ethan spoke up urgently. "Kiki? Perfect timing, let me introdu—"

Jason Evans suddenly jumped out. "Senior Sister Cortez! See? I told you! Second Senior Brother is bewitched by Grace Nan! She uses his backing to bully everyone in the outer sect! You must uphold justice for us!"

Kiki Cortez glared furiously at Ethan Valentine.

Her eyes instantly reddened.

"You said you only liked me!"

Ethan was frantic. "Let me explain, she's—"

"I don't care!" Kiki turned to Evelyn. "Settle martial matters with martial ways! Whoever wins today gets Ethan Valentine!"

Her eyes were red, full of both grievance and stubbornness.

Evelyn was speechless.

Someone actually wanted this silly third brother?

She thought her brother was marrying above his station into the Cortez family.

Turns out they had genuine feelings.

So easily swayed by provocation...

Were the Cortez family's standards for raising children too low?

Her lip twitched. She wanted to explain.

But Kiki had already thrown down her whip and unwrapped the bandages on her legs.

"You're an outer disciple. I'll give you three free moves. No weapons, your choice! A fair fight!"

Evelyn waved her hand. "I am—"

"Take this!"

Kiki was impatient and didn't listen.

Her fist shot straight towards Evelyn's face.

Evelyn stepped back, not yet moving.

Ethan Valentine rushed forward and caught Kiki's fist.

Kiki froze.

Jason shouted again. "Senior Sister Cortez! He protects Grace Nan right in front of you! Who would believe there's nothing between them!"

Tears fell from Kiki's eyes with a patter.

"Ethan Valentine! You raised your hand against me for her!"

Ethan panicked, reaching to wipe her tears. "No, she is my—"

"Move! I will duel her! If I win, you must come back to me!"

Kiki pushed him away, throwing another punch at Evelyn.

Jason Evans crossed his arms, enjoying the show.

"Senior Sister Cortez, teach Grace Nan a hard lesson! She flirts with everyone in the Cortez sect, using her looks to bewitch Second Senior Brother! Show her what happens!"

Kiki suddenly turned, kicking up the whip from the ground.

Evelyn frowned.

Jason laughed triumphantly. "Yes! Use the whip! No mercy for this kind of tramp!"

The whip cracked through the air.

It landed hard on Jason's body!

Jason screamed and jumped.

Kiki gave him a cold look.

"Whatever is between Grace Nan and Ethan Valentine, it takes two to tango! Don't you dare talk about a woman like that!"

She looked at Evelyn with tear-filled eyes.

Evelyn spoke calmly. "Don't get excited. I'm his sister."
