Alexander Vance spent a sleepless night.
He sat in his study with a document spread open before him.
He couldn't focus on a single word.
The sky outside gradually lightened.
He rubbed his temples and stood up, walking to the window.
The sound of a car engine came from downstairs.
A black sedan slowly entered the villa's gates.
Alexander's eyes narrowed.
It was a car from the main family estate.
The driver hurried out, holding a package.
Alexander turned and went downstairs.
"Mr. Vance." The driver respectfully handed over the package. "This express delivery is from the main estate. Elder Howard insisted it must be handed to you personally."
Alexander took the package, his brow slightly furrowed.
The package was light. Its contents were unclear.
He nodded. "Thank you."
The driver seemed to want to say more but ultimately remained silent and left.
Alexander returned to his study with the package.
He stared at it for a long moment but did not open it.
Now was not the time.
He and Evelyn Ross had agreed to finalize their divorce today.
The thought made his heart sink.
…
Evelyn Ross also spent a sleepless night.
She lay in bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Her phone screen suddenly lit up.
A text from an unknown number: "Don't get divorced."
Evelyn sat up abruptly.
The message was completely unexpected.
She called the number back. It was already switched off.
Who was this?
Why would they want to stop the divorce?
Evelyn fell deep into thought.
…
Seven in the morning.
Evelyn went downstairs after a quick wash.
The nanny was preparing breakfast.
"Miss, someone is here to see you," the nanny said quietly.
Evelyn paused.
Who would visit this early?
Could it be the person who sent the text?
She went to the door and opened it.
A woman around fifty stood outside, looking anxious.
"Mrs. Vance…" the woman said timidly.
Evelyn frowned. "Who are you?"
"I'm Sophia Watson's mother." The woman suddenly grabbed Evelyn's arm. "Please, let my Sophia go!"
Evelyn tried to pull away, but the woman's grip was surprisingly strong.
Just then, several reporters rushed out from around the corner, cameras pointed at her.
"Mrs. Vance, what is your response to Miss Watson's suicide attempt?"
"Did you interfere in their relationship?"
"How does Mr. Vance plan to take responsibility?"
Questions flew at her one after another.
Evelyn's face turned cold.
Sophia's mother suddenly dropped to her knees, kowtowing heavily.
"Mrs. Vance, Sophia cannot live without Mr. Vance! Please, let them be together!"
The reporters' cameras immediately focused on the scene.
Evelyn watched it all with a cold expression.
She knew exactly who was behind this—the main branch of the Vance family.
…
At the Vance family estate.
The driver woke up and suddenly remembered something important.
He rushed out of his room, searching everywhere for Alexander.
He finally found him at the parking lot, about to get into his car.
"Mr. Vance!" the driver shouted. "That package is from Stubborn Fifth! It's the one you've been waiting for!"
Alexander spun around.
"What did you say?"
