Chapter 100

The reporter glanced down at the photo frame under his foot.

He didn't move away. Instead, he pressed down harder.

"Miss Evelyn, is this you and your mother in the photo?"

"You have family too. You must understand the pain of losing a loved one."

"Was it really an accident? Your uncle just wanted money. You could have refused. Why resort to murder?"

Young Ethan grew anxious. "Let Miss Evelyn pick up the photo first!"

"This is her personal property. A reporter shouldn't threaten people like this…"

"Special circumstances require special measures!" The reporter glared fiercely at Ethan.

"Should we treat a murderer with kid gloves? Is this a threat? I just want to ask her a few questions…"

He turned to Evelyn. "Miss Evelyn, I won't move until you answer…"

Before he could finish, a tremendous force yanked him away!

Evelyn shoved him aside and bent down to retrieve the photo.

Seeing the black footprint on the frame, a terrifying murderous aura erupted around her.

The reporter staggered back, shouting loudly. "The murderer is attacking people!"

He looked at Evelyn, but her eyes froze him in place.

She appeared frail, dressed in casual white, seemingly delicate.

But now, her eyes were ferocious, like a vengeful spirit clawing its way from hell.

The reporter swallowed hard. "Look! That's the gaze of a murderer! How terrifying! She must have killed him on purpose!"

"Is that so?"

Evelyn wiped the photo clean, gripping the remaining glass shards tightly.

"Intentional murder. Killing one is a death sentence. Killing several is still a death sentence, right?"

The room fell silent. All reporters stared in horror at the sharp glass in her hand.

Evelyn's gaze swept over the crowd, finally landing on the portly landlord.

The two-hundred-pound man trembled, his legs shaking. "Wh-what do you want?"

Evelyn pointed at the mess on the floor. "What do you think?"

Terrified, the landlord pushed the reporters aside.

He frantically began gathering the scattered items.

He dragged a suitcase from the room and carefully pushed it toward Evelyn.

"Miss Evelyn, let's part on good terms, alright?"

Evelyn lowered her eyes.

When she had nowhere to go after leaving the Ashcrofts, this landlord had rented to her at a low price.

When the Ashcrofts cut off her allowance, he never pressed for rent.

Remembering his past kindness, she decided to let it go.

She pushed the suitcase toward the stairs but collided with Linda Lowell, just released from prison.

Linda's eyes burned with venom. "Evelyn Ross! You dare fight people? Go ahead! Stab me in the heart!"

"You killed your own uncle! Just kill me too! You monster! How did I give birth to something like you!"

She rushed forward, grabbing Evelyn's arm.

Unfazed by the glass shards, she wailed to the reporters.

"Her uncle just wanted some money! She has a doctorate! What's wrong with giving him some?"

"I gave birth to you! Raised you! You owe me a life debt! How could you kill your uncle? You're worse than an animal!"

Linda screamed and pounded on Evelyn.

Evelyn clenched her fist, smirking coldly. "I said, giving up my marriage for Isabella settled our debt. Did you forget?"

Linda refused to acknowledge it hysterically. "What debt? You share my blood! You'll always be my daughter!"

"Everyone, look! My daughter is ashamed I'm a mistress! She wants to cut ties!"

"I'm a mistress! I couldn't give you a good life! But even a dog doesn't despise a poor home!"

"I gave you life! Want to settle the debt? Give me back your life! Pay for your uncle's life!"

She snatched the glass shard and stabbed it toward Evelyn's heart!

Evelyn kicked her away without hesitation.

Linda crashed into the wall. The glass cut her palm, blood flowing freely.

She shrieked. "Help! My daughter killed my brother and now wants to kill me! Call the police! Don't let her escape!"

Seeing Evelyn disarmed, the reporters swarmed again.

"You killed your uncle and hurt your own mother! Do you have a heart?"

"Is this how you act because you hate being poor?"

"Pushing someone onto rebar with enough force to kill… How strong are you? Why did you hate your uncle so much?"

Their pointed questions bombarded her.

Evelyn's eyes grew colder.

Rumors were truly sharp weapons…

She suddenly changed the subject. "Why? Why don't you ask my uncle's dear son why he gave me a Letter of Forgiveness?"

The reporters were stunned.

Evelyn turned to leave, but they still blocked her path.

If that's how it is… then force it is!

She flexed her wrist. Ethan urgently called out, "Miss Evelyn! There are cameras everywhere! Don't be rash!"

Evelyn understood his warning.

If she fought back, regardless of the truth, she'd be labeled as assaulting reporters and defying her mother.

But so what?

She never cared what others thought!

A wicked smile curled on Evelyn's lips.
