Stardew Valley

Why your Bee House produces Wild Honey

A ready honey icon tells you the house has finished a cycle. The flower you leave standing when you collect it determines whether that jar gets a flower name.

Give the hive an outdoor production cycle

Place a Bee House outdoors on the farm in spring, summer or fall. Wait four nights for a cycle; placing it beside a flower does not make a ready jar appear immediately. A house inside the greenhouse produces nothing, even beside a flowering plant. On the main farm winter pauses production. First distinguish an idle house from one that regularly delivers jars labeled Wild Honey.

Count from one mature flower

Water a planted seasonal flower until it blooms, then leave it unpicked. A fully grown Fairy Rose in fall is a useful test. The range is a diamond: add the horizontal and vertical distances from the hive to the bloom. A flower three tiles across and two up is within five; three across and three up is outside. A single bloom can supply several hives. A foraged daffodil placed beside the house cannot take the place of a growing flower.

Collect honey before harvesting the flower

Approach the hive from the aisle with the flower on the far side. Collect one jar and read its inventory name before emptying the rest. If you picked the bloom first, a waiting house can give Wild Honey instead. A bloom that matures after the honey becomes ready can still flavor the jar if left standing when you collect. To test a specific flower, isolate one house from competing blooms within its range.
